Roshani Perera

Roshani Perera is a third-year Social Work student at the University of Manitoba. She started her practicum at the Immigrant Centre in September 2018 under the guidance of Sandra Albanez, Director of Settlement Services and Roselyn Advincula, Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Worker Coordinator.

Roshani first came to Canada in 2011 as Montessori school teacher: she has a diploma in Montessori education from her native Sri Lanka. After applying to the Provincial Nominee Program, she became a permanent resident, and then decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Social Work program the University of Manitoba.

Throughout her practicum placement, which required her to be at the Centre twice a week, Roshani continued to work three days as a Montessori teacher, while taking two courses at the University of Manitoba.  During this time she also passed her Canadian citizenship test!

Roshani will soon wrap up her time at the Immigrant Centre. We wish her all the best with her future endeavours, and are extremely grateful for her contribution to the Immigrant Centre. Thank you Roshani!
