Duties and Responsibilities
Provide accurate oral (spoken) interpretation of information at locations such as:

  • police station
  • government offices
  • medical & dental appointments
  • court *(Must be a Permanent Resident or Citizen)
  • legal office
  • schools
  • other agencies

Qualifications and Skills

  • Fluent in language specified
  • Fluent in English with minimum English CLB of 8 or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management and organization skills
  • Previous interpreting experience an asset
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, for interpreter assignments at agencies outside the Immigrant Centre

Schedule and Availability

  • Available for appointments on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Evening and week shifts may also be available
  • Appointments are booked for a minimum of two hours.

Additional Details

  • Interpreters are paid at a rate of $30 an hour.
  • Interpreters are booked on an as-needed basis.
