Kago Badubi

In November 2015 Kago Badubi joined the team of volunteers at the Immigrant Centre as a Computer Training Facilitator. Originally from Botswana, Kago spent a few years in Ontario and Thompson, Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg.

Kago was looking for a volunteer opportunity that would allow him to fulfil the community involvement requirement for his professional engineering designation. He submitted a volunteer application to the Immigrant Centre after seeing an advertisement at Manitoba Start. The Computer Training Facilitator position was the perfect fit. Working with computers was part of his profession, and Kago was eager to use this skill to help others.

Volunteering at the Immigrant Centre was a “really awesome experience” especially meeting people from so many different backgrounds. “As a person it helps you grow.” Speaking about the clients that he assisted Kago says, “It can be emotional. You can see it in their face when they learn something new and you realize that you are helping someone. That’s why I kept coming back.”

Kago has recently relocated to Ottawa to study Water and Waste Treatment. Though he will be missed by the staff, clients and other volunteers at the Centre, we wish him success with his academic pursuits.

The Immigrant Centre thanks you, Kago, for your time and dedication.
