Fall 2020 Cooking Matters

This fall has been a busy season for our Cooking Matters Program! During the past month, Briana Henry, Nutrition Services Manager, prepared to welcome clients to the Fall 2020 session of Cooking Matters, which starts this week. In this session, Briana will offer three 8-week classes to teach newcomers about nutrition, the Canada Food Guide, healthy eating, and affordable – yet nutritious – grocery shopping; click here for the Cooking Matters poster. Briana has also been busy “virtually” during the past month: in October, she facilitated a 5-day online cooking and nutrition session for newcomers through the Neighbourhood Immigrant Settlement Worker (NISW) program with the Louis Riel School Division at Rene Deleurme Centre. Newly arrived permanent residents received ingredients needed to cook and followed along with Briana from home. Participants learned healthy, affordable, and tasty recipes for their families through this online program.
