Immigrant Centre staff participated in the Pathways to Prosperity 2019 National Conference in Toronto; this conference provided an invaluable opportunity for us to network with other stakeholders in the settlement and newcomer sector across Canada. One of the key aspects discussed at this conference is the combination of research, policy-making, and practical evidence in supporting the settlement and integration experience of immigrants in Canada. The conference also featured aspects currently relevant in the sector, including attitudes towards immigrants and visible minorities, and the current immigration trends in rural areas of Canada, including those in Manitoba. One of the most useful presentations attended by Immigrant Centre staff was a workshop on intercultural communication training, whose resources will be used to continuously improve services to clients at Immigrant Centre.
