Immigrant Centre help me, to wrote my resume taught me how to apply for jobs, helped me to get certified for First Aid, gave me more self confidence, taught me interview skills. Also, how to behave at workplace according their company culture, thank you Immigrant Centre!!
What types of job search techniques did you use to find your job?
First, I just make decisions that, I need to found job this month, so every weeks I chose three days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday of distributing my resume only to bigger companies I know there are paying good salary. Then, I started walking company to company, I just gave my resume only to managers. Sometimes, when I went to some companies I just find some workers I asked them about their managers they started laughing to me, about my English accent but I will try my best to gave them my or there are managers.
What differences have you noticed between working in Canada and working in your home country?
Working in Canada is very good, because the condition at workplace is safe and there are safety services. Also, the employers and workers their treat everyone equal and the salaries is very higher than, in my home country. In the other hand, in my home country, our government is not able to create more jobs for everyone, because of the economies situation is not good in country or war problems.
What advice would you give to immigrants and newcomers looking for work?
The only advice is, when you are newcomer to Canada, first things you should do as immigration in Canada, go to school to learn English language and improve your English in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Because, life in Canada is not easy, is not hard but is complicated. English language in Canada is key! That's why, I love Canada and I am thankful to the government of Canada and immigration of Canada for supporting newcomers. Also, before taking decision of looking jobs in Canada should go to Immigrant Centre or to Manitoba start.
